My husband had a really huge accident (or more than one...) sometime during the night and everything is soaked. Somehow he ooched down to the bottom of the bed, pulled all the covers and pillows down there with him, and had an accident. I don't mind washing all the bedding, and will have to throw away the pillow, but he pulled the fitted sheet off the corner where he was and actually RIPPED the mattress cover so that the urine got all over the mattress itself. I just bought this mattress for him less than six months ago and am trying to see if there is any way to get that urine smell out-it is very strong.

Has anyone had any success getting urine out of a mattress? Related, is there a mattress cover that can't be ripped as easily? I must have bought a crappy one because it tore easily and didn't protect the mattress at all.

Try using products that remove pet urine from fabrics. Had success with that. Also moved the mattress into the sun (on a balcony) to dry. For next time, put the mattress in a vinyl cover than place the mattress pad on that. If he tears the pad, maybe the vinyl will remain in tact.

Try “Nature’s Miracle”...it comes in a spray bottle. If you cannot find it, try borax mixed with warm water....make a paste, let it dry, then vacuum it up...sometimes it takes two times. We have done this for years because our youngest used to be a bedwetter...
