My lovely husband, Peter, died last night, at his wonderful, loving, assisted living facility. We spent his last hour napping together on his bed there, and holding hands. He slipped away, between one breath and the next, in a totally peaceful way. He had known that he was dying and was very ready for it. I could not have asked for a more natural and serene end to his long life with Parkinson's.

I thank all of the people here on this important forum. While I have been less active in the past . year than previously, I still read everything, and found my first Parkinson's caregiver community here. And to Jim, who maintains our lovely site, a very special thanks. I'll make an additional donation in my husband's memory.

I'll be back from time to time,

Peace and courage to us all,

Violet V

Violet,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you are feeling right now and it isn't easy.
I lost my husband in February after 12 years of PD. He was in a nursing home for 8 months where he passed away and was only 70 years old. We will be married 50 years in July and went together for 5 years so together most of our lives.
I looked after him for 5 years but it got to be too stressful for me.
I recently took 5 Art Healing classes at the Hospice. I could talk to other woman who were going through the same thing.
If you can get to a bereavement support group, I highly recommend it.

I hope you have family near or friends to talk to. Try to keep busy if you can.
Take care,
Lynn

I just spent a lovely hour when I woke up listening to voice memo recordings I'd made over the years with my phone -- hearing my lovely husband's voice. And the best one....One day I forgot to turn off the recorder, so I have a 20 minute recording of the sound of him sleeping next to me. It brings him back in the sweetest way.
