Hello all,
Have been trying to leave you alone for a while because I feel like I am a bother but anyway . . .
My HWP is getting worse. Memory problems are very noticeable now. He does realize that he has a hard time keeping a thought and verbalizing things. He finds this very frustrating which I can totally understand! I try to be calm and just listen, or to help him retrieve his thought line. I try to empathize with him on that point. I feel sad for him. The most frustrating thing over the last almost 2 years now is fixations. My primary says this is normal. We have only one cat, but he continues to buy more cat litter scoops and cat food bowls. I bet we have at least 15 of each at this point. I know there is nothing I can do about it but guess I just needed to vent. If anyone else's HWP exhibits this, please just let me know I am not alone.
I still struggle with what is to come and fear of the unknown. I have a wonderful therapist who I see regularly and she is very helpful. Thanks for listening. july7553 in TN

Good to hear from you July. I'm sure all of us have some sort of "trouble" with our PWPs over something like this. Mine goes to Costco or Ollies or Walmart and buys WAAAAAY too much. After all it's just the two of us so how and when are we gonna use up say a 48 oz bottle of Barbeque Sauce? That's just one example. Good Luck and God Bless you in your struggles.

Mom is mostly housebound and has been for years (she hasn't driven since 2007, and was diagnosed in 2010). She fixates on cleaning things in the house during her dyskinesia. Also, over the last 15 years (and somewhat before) she would always want new tennis shoes because she claimed the ones she had hurt her feet (she doesn't even wear shoes in the house--she just wears socks). She probably still has 15 pairs of shoes, since I convinced her to let me take a bunch of them to the Goodwill a few years ago. I would guess she had 30 or 40 pairs of shoes at one point. She'd try them on in the store, say they felt much better, take them home, and claim they hurt her feet and didn't want to wear them...and immediately say we need to get another pair that won't hurt her feet. I continually tell her it is her FEET and not the shoes, but that never sinks in. She does have a pair that she doesn't complain about when we go to doctors appointments, the dentist, whatever, and so I just put those on her feet each time we go. As with so many other things, I assume if I get no spontaneous complaining from her, then it's fine. If I ASK, she will say they hurt, whatever it is, so I just don't ask.

Pool lady-thank you SO much for sharing this with me. My husband does this too! Constantly going to Costco, Sams, Kroger. Comes home with all kinds of things that neither of us will eat or use. His rationale is always the same: "it was on sale." Now that I know I am not alone I can actually laugh about it. Lately he figured out to get on YouTube and watch things. He just came downstairs and started telling me how aliens have sent messages to us via Voyager I and Voyager II. I have no idea what those are, but I found it quite comical. If it keeps his mind occupied I could care less.

Right, July Hubby says the same thing "it was ON Sale!" At least he doesn't buy shoes. He wears some that are probably 30 or 40 years old. LOL Might as well laugh about it.

Pool Lady - mine is just the opposite on shoes. There are floors of two large closets here double stacked with shoes, many still in the boxes, never worn. Regarding the food, I found 3 jars of Miracle Whip in the pantry yesterday, plus there is an open one in the fridge. Oy vey LOL
